Mask
A diving mask is an item of diving equipment that allows scuba divers, free-divers, and snorkelers to see clearly underwater. When the human eye is in direct contact with water as opposed to air, its normal environment, light entering the eye is refracted by a different angle and the eye is unable to focus the light. By providing an air space in front of the eyes, light enters normally and the eye is able to focus correctly.
Snorkel
A swimmer's snorkel is a tube about thirty centimeters (twelve inches) long, usually J-shaped, fitted with a mouthpiece, and constructed of rubber or plastic. It is used for breathing air from above the water surface when the mouth and nose are submerged, either when snorkeling or during a surface swim before or after scuba diving. The snorkel usually has a piece of rubber that attaches the snorkel to the outside of the strap of the diving mask, as sticking the snorkel in between the strap and the mask could cause the mask to leak, or risk losing the snorkel should the diver choose to switch to scuba.
Fins
Swimfins, swim fins, fins or flippers are worn on the foot or leg and made from finlike rubber or plastic, to aid movement through the water in water sports activities such as swimming, bodyboarding, bodysurfing, kneeboarding, riverboarding, and various types of underwater diving.
Buoyancy Compensator
Buoyancy Compensator or BCD is used to adjust and control the overall buoyancy of the diver and the diver's heavy equipment allowing the diver to achieve neutral buoyancy, remaining at constant depth, or to descend or ascend in a controlled way.
Regulator

A diving regulator is a pressure regulator used in a scuba set that supplies the diver with breathing gas at ambient pressure from one or more diving cylinders. The gas may be air or one of a variety of specially blended breathing gases.

A gas pressure regulator has one or more valves in series, which let the gas out of a gas cylinder in a controlled way, lowering air pressure at each stage.

The terms "regulator" and "demand valve" are often used interchangeably, but a demand valve is the part of a regulator that delivers gas to the diver's mouth in a regulator with more than one stage.

Gauges

A depth gauge is a pressure gauge that displays the equivalent depth in water.

Most modern diving depth gauges' have an electronic mechanism and digital display. Older types used a mechanical mechanism and analogue display.

A pressure gauge is a gauge that displays the amount of gas pressure in a SCUBA tank. This is usually measured in PSI or pounds per square inch.

SCUBA Tank
A diving cylinder, scuba tank or diving tank is used to store and transport high pressure breathing gas as a component of SCUBA (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus). It provides gas to the SCUBA diver through the demand valve of a diving regulator.
Weight Belt
Divers wear weighting systems, weight belts or weights, generally made of lead, to counteract the buoyancy of other diving equipment, such as diving suits and aluminum diving cylinders.
Exposure Suit
A diving suit is a garment or device designed to protect a diver from the underwater environment. These suits come in different forms, such as, wetsuits, dry suits, semi-dry suits and dive skins.

“Kris, I hope this is the right place to put in some praise for "All About Scuba." Gary and I recently purchased the new Aqua Lung Solar Flex wet suits. They are 8mm and very flexible. We had an opportunity to use them at Breakwater recently and love them. They are so warm and comfortable that we couldn't believe they are wet suits (or I guess semi-dri). They have tight, heavy seals in the ankles and wrists, and we stayed close to dry in 54 degree water. They are easy to don on and off by yourself. I recommend them highly. Kris was able to get them within a couple of days for us and did a good job of getting a good fit. We are very pleased. Also, we recently invested in the new Viper Air dive computers. They are awesome. Not having a line from your tank to your computer is very nice. The compasses take a little getting use to, but they are very accurate. Again, Kris was a good instructor in their use. We are definitely pleased with our new equipment. It all makes diving a little more fun, and we all know that "All About Scuba" is the place to go for fun and diving.”
